ISA-NCB Conducts COLS Training at Subhash Montessori Public School, Sausar
The Indian Society of Anesthesiologists – Nagpur City Branch (ISA-NCB) continues its mission of spreading life-saving awareness by conducting Compression-Only Life Support (COLS) training for school students. On 1st February 2025, a training session was held at Subhash Montessori Public School, Sausar, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, where nearly 500 students and faculty members participated enthusiastically.
Empowering Young Minds with Life-Saving Skills
The training was designed for students from 6th to 10th standard, aiming to equip them with basic emergency response techniques that could prove vital in real-life situations. A combination of lecture-based learning and hands-on mannequin training ensured that students grasped the concepts effectively.
Expert Trainers
The session was led by experienced ISA-NCB members, including:
✔️ Dr. Umesh Ramtani – President, ISA-NCB
✔️ Dr. Karuna Gaikwad – ISA Member
✔️ Dr. Poornima Suryawanshi – ISA Member
They provided step-by-step demonstrations on mannequins, explaining the importance of immediate response during cardiac emergencies. Students were given the opportunity to practice chest compressions under expert supervision, ensuring they understood the correct technique.
Interactive & Engaging Learning Experience
Students participated in small-group hands-on practice, allowing them to gain confidence in their skills. Their curiosity and eagerness to learn were evident as they actively engaged in the session, asking insightful questions, which the trainers patiently addressed.
A Collaborative Effort for a Safer Future
This life-saving initiative was made possible through the efforts of Dr. Vilas Tambe, a renowned senior intensive care physician and ISA-NCB founder member, who arranged the session for the school.
The school’s Principal, Mrs. Hina Wadekar, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to ISA-NCB for conducting such an impactful session and appreciated the dedication of the trainers.
Promoting COLS Awareness Beyond the Classroom
To ensure that the knowledge imparted remains accessible, ISA-NCB donated a COLS Chart to the school. This pictorial algorithm will serve as a constant visual guide, reinforcing the importance of emergency response training among students and faculty members.
Building a Community of First Responders
By training young students in Compression-Only Life Support, ISA-NCB is fostering a new generation of first responders who can act swiftly and confidently in life-threatening situations. This initiative highlights the importance of early intervention in medical emergencies and reinforces ISA-NCB’s commitment to community health and safety.
