A Grand Start to the New Year: ISA NCB’s First CME on “Dynamics of Perioperative Anaesthesia Care”
The ISA Nagpur City Branch kick-started 2025 with a landmark event—the 1st CME of the year and the inaugural major CME of the 2024-25 tenure. Held on January 5, 2025, at Hardas Hall, IMA Annex Building, Nagpur, the event brought together luminaries from the field of anaesthesiology to discuss “Dynamics of Perioperative Anaesthesia Care” and featured the prestigious “Dr. N.T. Balankhe Memorial Outgoing Presidents Oration.”
The program commenced at 9:00 AM and continued until 3:30 PM, packed with enriching sessions and engaging discussions. It was an honor to have two distinguished guest faculties: Immediate Past President of ISA National, Dr. J.V. Divatia, and Dr. Shivakumar M.C. from Shivamogga, Karnataka. The event earned accreditation of 2 MMC credit points, with senior ISA NCB member Dr. Ravi Gurbani serving as the MMC observer.
A Ceremony Steeped in Tradition and Purpose
The day began with the ceremonial lighting of the Samai, symbolizing knowledge and enlightenment. ISA NCB President, Dr. Umesh Ramtani, delivered a warm welcome address, acknowledging the presence of esteemed speakers, chairpersons, and delegates. He emphasized the importance of perioperative anaesthesia care in advancing patient outcomes and shared insights from the ISA National President-Secretary meeting held earlier in the year.

- “Handling Terrible Perioperative Events” by Dr. Neelesh Mathankar.

Honoring a Legacy with the Outgoing Presidents Oration
The centerpiece of the event was the Dr. N.T. Balankhe Memorial Outgoing Presidents Oration, delivered by Dr. Gauri Arora on “Expanding Role of Neuraxial Block: A Personal Journey.” Her presentation skillfully combined her personal experiences with advanced techniques in cervical, thoracic, and lumbar neuraxial blocks, earning widespread appreciation. The session was chaired by Dr. Anjali Bhure and Dr. Shital Dalal.

The subsequent sessions delved into groundbreaking topics:
- “Perioperative MACCE” by Dr. J.V. Divatia.
- “TIVA – TCI: A Promising Innovation in Perioperative Dynamics” by Dr. Shivakumar M.C.
