World Anaesthesia Day Celebration on 16th October 2023

Indian Society of Anaesthesiology, Nagpur City Branch had organised World Anaesthesia Day Celebration on 16th October 2023. Anesthesia Day also called as ‘Ether Day’, marks the historic event of administration of ether anesthesia successfully by Sir W. T. G Morton on October 16, 1846. This pioneering achievement laid the foundation for modern anaesthesia and revolutionized medical procedures. The main aim of the celebration of this day is to make common people aware about anesthesiologists and their role towards patient care.
Dr Balaji Asegaonkar, President Society of Anaesthesiology Maharashtra State( SAMS ) graced the occasion as chief guest for the celebration. Cake cutting was done. Members who have brought laurels to the anaesthesia fraternity by their awards and excellence were felicitated. Wards of the members who achieved excellence in academic and non academic activities were also felicitated.
D. S. Motghare Anaesthesiology intercollegiate skit competition for Vidarbha colleges was organised in which five teams of various colleges took part. Essay competition was also organised for the members on the topic “Anaesthesia Redefined: Care Beyond Boundaries”. Winners and runners up were given prizes.
Dr. Gauri Arora President ISA NCB welcomed the gathering and gave information about how the society wil be organising different public awareness programs throughout the Ether week. She also released a video explaining the importance of Compression Only Life support which is important to save one’s life for common people. Radio Jingles to be played on 94.3 My FM for public awareness was also released on the occasion.
Coordinator for the event Dr Sonali Bhagat, Joint Secretary along with executive team members took a lot of efforts to make the program a grand success. MOCs of the function Dr Rajkumari Wadhwani and Dr Bhuvaneshwari flawlessly conducted the proceedings. Governing Council Members Dr Sheetal Dalal and Dr Manisha Shembekar were source of constant guidance and support.
Program was well attended by all the senior members, HODs of various colleges and post graduate students.Dr Dilip Wasnik, Hon Secretary, proposed the formal vote of thanks.
